Private Capri Tours from any Hotel
Take a day trip to Capri. Meet your Tours of Capri guide in your hotel lobby for an English guided tour you’ll never forget. Your tour begins at Marina Grande, the main port of Capri. See all variety of sailing vessels, private and commercial, at the bustling pier. Tourist information, the bus and funicular (cable car) stops are located here. Weather-permitting, we’ll ride in a convertible minivan to our first destination, the Blue Grotto, Grotta Azzurra. A natural wonder, a look inside the one meter high entrance reveals a blue cavern 25 meters wide and 60 meters long. Boaters who enter must lie flat to pass beneath through the rocky entrance.
Next, we’ll set course for Anacapri, the higher town. Note the many birds, flowers and lemon trees. You professional guide will select a scenic route that will include the cliffside Mamma Mia Road. With its daring switchbacks, you’ll want to be sure to have your camera ready! At Anacapri, we’ll take a 10-minute chairlift to Monte Solaro. At 589 meters above sea level, this mountain peak offers a panoramic vista of Capri that is the highlight of our tour. See the Penninsula of Sorrento, Mt. Vesuvius, the Gulf of Naples, and the islands of Ischia and Procida. Note the Capri town center, spectacular coastal headlands, vineyards, olive groves and Mt. Vesuvius.
Also interesting in Anacapri is the Villa San Michele, built by Swedish writer and doctor Axel Munthe. Here we’ll see verdant gardens, art and relics. We’ll stop for photos, some shopping and lunch.
Known locally as the Chiazza, La Piazzetta is next on our tour. As you stroll the quaint town square, window shop in some of the finest designer boutiques in the world. Sip something cool at a sidewalk café. This is the place to see and be seen, and don’t be surprised if you see your favorite singer and her entourage!
We’ll round out our tour with the illustrious Augustus Gardens. A 1900s industrialist by the name of Friedrich Alfred Krupp built this fine residence. Today it’s a treasure trove of native botanical flora open to the public. From here we have an extraordinary view of the famed Faraglioni. These rock formations, or sea stacks, rise regally out of the beautiful Mediterranean, and are one of Capri’s most beloved landmarks. Afterward, enjoy a bit of free time.
At tour’s end, we will ride the funicular back to Marina Grande where we will bid each other farewell.
